Oh.My.Goodness, ya’ll, lemme tell you! This ENTIRE family is SO amazing. They were all truly such good hearted, loving people. Every single one of them. Not to mention super beautiful and that land, oh my lawd, love!!
We spent a couple hours on the family’s property in Brier Creek, NC. It was such a beautiful day. Between the family, the land and the light, it felt so magical. I’m always so honored to be apart of all of these amazing people’s lives, even for a couple hours. It’s such a beautiful thing and it means a lot to me. This is far beyond a job. I’m so passionate about amazing people, capturing honesty, realness, rawness, just love. It’s truly amazing. I have people tell me time and time again they are so lucky to have found me, I feel the opposite. This makes my heart smile. I hope you can feel the love and magic, while looking at these, just as I did on that beautiful day.
I know, melts your heart, doesn’t it? Sigh, I love my job! So, so much!
Haha, as parents we know all too well the struggle when it comes time to trying to get the little ones to stand still, especially if there’s multiples. After getting the first shot of them standing still (for .2 seconds), we just let them do their thing. I said you know what, it’s okay. Let them be them. Let it be real. In the moment of having a photographer stand in front of you, as a parent, you immediately think, “oh no, Beth come here, Daniel stand there” but really, down the road, I think you’d prefer to have it as it was, as it really was. Memories are everything and while I understand the importance of having a couple “posed” shots, THIS, THIS is amazing to me. This is art, this is real, this is love.
First of all, oh my goodness! Seriously, THIS is why I love my job, friends. When you feel like you’re ALWAYS saying time and time again how fricken awesome and amazing your clients are, you feel like folks start thinking you’re just a robot or you say that about every client, but the truth is, my clients truly ARE amazing! See, (I’m about to reveal a “secret”), just like my clients screen me to be sure I’m a good fit, I do the same. I am a down to earth, naturally kind person, that truly LOVES amazing folks, I love capturing in photographs what you can literally feel being there, with them. Which is their love and their excitement for one another. I want to capture all that sweet goodness, the rawness the pureness, in that moment, as is. I am truly passionate about my work. It means a great deal to me to photograph and work with people that are busting through the seems with love and passion about their life, their partner or whatever else! It’s beautiful, it’s real, it’s love. Ahhh!!! I’m so excited for this beautiful journey I’m fortunate and so honored to be on.
Veroniqe and Tom are literally everything I just described, they are both so kind hearted and so fun. The love I felt from these two literally made my day. I was having a horrible day leading up to the shoot. I wasn’t feeling my normal happy, creative, excited self. Dudes! Lemme tell you, when these two showed up, within the first 5 minutes I was definitely like “We got this” haha, it was so awesome. It’s so inspiring. I think that’s my favorite part of my job seeing, capturing and producing the love that already exists. We choose Lake Wheeler Park, in Raleigh. They love each other so much and it truly makes me feel amazing to have been able to document that.
I’m a big fan of capturing art, not just cutesy images. I want my images to stand out, I want them to be beautiful and full of life and creativity. I want them to be unique and personal. I love to try new things and in these two images above, I bent the rules. The above left image, the subjects are out of focus, a big “no-no”, I personally love the take away from it. I think it’s beautiful and I love it. The above right image, I used my prism, thanks to @SamHurd, who is an amazing photographer, btw!! I have been playing around with a little here and there. #Sorrynotsorry #prism #standout #beyou #real #love #art
Yes, yes I was basically laying down in the mud and water to get this shot but I mean ..you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do for the sake of love and art. Am I right?
Oh Happppy Day!!
Melanie and Daniel have to be one of the SWEETEST couples that I’ve had the honor of photographing! These two are so adorable together and I’m so happy and honored to have been apart of their day. Their wedding was filled with love, family and God. All of which are so incredibly important to them. They picked the sweetest little southern venue, The Sutherland, in Wake Forest, North Carolina for their day. With an outdoor ceremony in front of the venue and all the reception fun under the gorgeous pavilion around back of the estate.
I mean, are they not the cutest?! And can you tell it was over 100 degrees?! Shew, we sure could, but man was it worth it!!
The Sutherland Is a charming southern venue. I have photographed multiple weddings here. It’s such a sweet, romantic venue that kind of feels like home. Ashlee from the Sutherland, is the Special Events Director and she is AH-mazing. Literally. So sweet, professional, down to earth and oh-so-helpful. Seriously, to me, the staff and vendors are a big part of any wedding day and how helpful + kind hearted they are can influence the mood of your wedding day, tremendously.
If you can even imagine, Melanie’s inner beauty is just as beautiful as her outer beauty. Pearls and Lace, so dreamy! I literally get so happy when a beautiful wedding day comes together. I LOVE what I do. We were walking along the estate while doing Melanie’s bridals chatting and hanging out and I literally squealed so loud when I saw this Wisteria hanging. Y’all, this girl was excited. Like, maybe too excited.
Shooting through nature is literally love for me. If I can incorporate nature, I’m going to. At any given time at a wedding you will see me shooting through all kinds of random, possibly weird things. It’s SO much fun and I get excited about creating something new and wonderful.
Melanie seeing her little brother for the first time all dressed up. This seriously makes my heart smile. <3 <3
Melanie and Daniel came together to say a prayer and exchange love notes to each other, just before walking down the aisle.
Unfortunately, just a couple weeks prior to their wedding day, Daniel’s mother passed away from breast cancer. Daniel and Melanie really wanted to make sure his mother was included in their day as much as possible.
